Producer, Multi-disciplinary artist and curator, Golden Champagne Flavored Sweatshirt has announced her debut full length record, titled “Expectant” available for preorder now, and set to release on November 20, 2020 on Oakland based imprint Ratskin Records​. GCFS has crafted seven songs of futuristic, electronic-based soundscapes.. The tracks on “Expectant” span from psychedelic post-industrial chaos to more minimalist, hypnotic ambient soundscapes. The closing track, “Animals Calling Animals” perhaps the album's most visceral composition creates an intense fever-dream like climax compared to more hypnotic, ambient tracks such as “Pyroclastic Flows”. Without ever losing focus, or a central theme of distance space, and surrealism, the sounds of “Expectant” create an unwavering investigation of distortion and sound; bringing the listener into a tense and psychedelic journey. The themes of duality present throughout this record cannot be ignored. “Expectant” is at once, both aggressive and comforting, overwhelming and peaceful, terrifying and beautiful. With hammering, blistering eruptions of percussion carefully layered over dense worlds of buzzing,undulating synths, and layers of ripping twisting, organic sound-collages to boothe sound of “Expectant” is both explosive and new and carries these dualities throughout.

GCFS’s “Expectant” makes huge strides in both concept and feel from earlier self-released works, creating tracks that are both visceral and technically engaging, idiosyncratic and speak to layers of collective subconscious of sound. “Expectant” shines a highly-focused yet surreal lens into the despair and desperation of an entity in chaos. “Integrating the personal and political nature of creating art under capitalism has been an intense journey of self actualization. This is to remember these feelings, this time, this part of my story.” “The access and ability to create sound has been one of the most cathartic experiences I've had so far in life. Recording music has completely changed the way I approach other types of artistry; as well as shaping my relationship to self. “

Working with sound, video art, live and recorded performances across a myriad of disciplines and aesthetics. As an artist, cultural contributor and advocate for Black creatives; GCFS connects artists across mediums to create meaningful cultural exchange.
