The music on this album changes violently from prog-jazz-punk-future metal noise to straight up metallic grinding harsh noise and everywhere in between. Using pioneering techniques of weirdness while still maintaining harshness and brutality with organized horn arrangements. Striking a perfect balance between composition and improvisation, this album draws from influences as diverse as free jazz artists Sun- Ra and John Zorn's Naked City and Painkiller to crust punk bands such as Dystopia or Rudimentary Peni.(Pet Goat Records)

BRANDON LABELLE "Music On A Short Thin Wire" CD $9
Each track of "music on a short thin wire" was produced by using two of the first eight CD releases by Ground Fault Recordings. Chosing the discs in order of their release dates, I played two CDs simultaneously through separate players, and separate channels, splitting the CDs to a single speaker (one CD left, the other right). Using the speakers themselves as the main sound source -- the paper cone -- I attached short thin copper wires to their surfaces. I then attached the other end of the wires directly to contact microphones. Playing the CDs activated the speakers, and in turn caused the wires to vibrate. These vibrations in essence are direct "sympathetic" translations of the dynamic fluctuations of the music being played, though respond quite erratically. The following tracks are excerpts from these recordings; each track refers to two specific CDs.

Quiet at times, strong and full in others, this release constructs its moods with powerful bass pulses, full spectrum harmonic drones and vibrating tones along with the scratching, raspy organic textures that Daniel Menche is famous for.(GroundFault Recordings)

One fifteen minute track from these bay area troublemakers, recorded on KALX radio in Berkeley with swanky hi-fallutin' compression and all. The soundtrack to your innards being repossessed by the nanobots you already ate for dinner. Top notch sound. (Ratskin)
